State Pension age calculator

UK State Pension age depends on your date of birth under the Pensions Acts 2007 and 2014. It is 66 for everyone reaching it now (born 6 October 1954 to 5 April 1960). It rises from 66 to 67 between 2026 and 2028 for people born between 6 April 1960 and 5 April 1961, on a sliding scale, so anyone born from 6 April 1961 to 5 April 1977 has a State Pension age of 67. It then rises again to 68, currently legislated for those born on or after 6 April 1977 over the period 2044 to 2046. A 2017 government proposal to bring the rise to 68 forward to 2037 to 2039 was announced but has not been enacted, and the timetable is under periodic review. Enter your date of birth to see your State Pension age and the date you reach it.

Enter your date of birth to see your State Pension age and the date you reach it under the current rules. The 67 to 68 rise is legislated for 2044 to 2046 but is under periodic review (a 2017 proposal to bring it forward to 2037 to 2039 was never enacted), so always confirm your exact date on the official gov.uk tool.

How this is worked out

UK State Pension age depends on your date of birth under the Pensions Acts 2007 and 2014.

born 6 Oct 1954 to 5 Apr 1960: State Pension age 66
born 6 Apr 1960 to 5 Apr 1961: sliding scale between 66 and 67 (phased 2026 to 2028)
born 6 Apr 1961 to 5 Apr 1977: State Pension age 67
born 6 Apr 1977 onwards: rising to 68 (legislated for 2044 to 2046)
your pension date is your birthday at that age, with phased birth dates handled by the legislated tables

The 67 to 68 increase is current legislation (Pensions Act 2007) but is under periodic government review and could change. A 2017 government proposal to bring the rise to 68 forward to 2037 to 2039 was announced but has not been enacted.
